Ceramic tiles have been designed
and glazed by 3rd
and
4th grade elementary
school students from Verde School in Richmond, California. The tiles will be
used to decorate recycling containers at the school and in the surrounding
neighborhood. Verde School is in a low-income area of North Richmond.
The North Richmond Community
Housing and Development Corporation sponsored the recycling container tile
project as a way of creating community pride and ownership for the children and
residents of the area.
